The Next Step Fund – $1,000 Prize Contest

1. Sponsoring Associations

For the purposes of these Rules, the term “Sponsoring Association” refers to one of the following organizations, each responsible for awarding a prize in its province:

  • Alberta – Alberta Community & Co-operative Association (ACCA)

  • British Columbia – BC Co-operative Association (BCCA)

  • Saskatchewan – Saskatchewan Co-operative Association (SCA)

  • Manitoba – Manitoba Co-operative Association (MCA)

  • Newfoundland & Labrador – Newfoundland-Labrador Federation of Co-operatives (NLFC)

2. Eligibility

  • Open to legal residents of Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, or Newfoundland & Labrador (excluding Quebec), ages 18 to 35.

  • Any person meeting the age and residency requirements may enter.

  • Participants are eligible for the prize draw connected to the province where they reside.

  • Employees, contractors, officers, and directors of a Sponsoring Association (and their immediate family members: partner, parents, siblings, and children) are not eligible to win the prize awarded by that Sponsoring Association.

3. How to Enter

  • No purchase necessary, but attendance at the “Business Not As Usual: Own Your Future” virtual event on October 16, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m. MST, is required.

  • Participants must register for the event in advance at [insert registration link].

  • At the start of the event, attendees will be prompted to complete a contest entry form (including name and contact information). This form will serve as the official entry into the draw.

  • Limit of one (1) entry per person. Anyone submitting multiple entries will be disqualified.

  • Participants must be present during the online, live prize draws to win.

4. Contest Period

  • The contest begins at 10:00 a.m. MST on October 16, 2025, with the official opening of the virtual event.

  • The contest closes at the conclusion of the live prize draws, which will take place during the event on October 16, 2025.

5. Prizes

  • Five (5) prizes of $1,000 CAD each will be awarded — one per province listed in Section 1.

  • Each prize, known as the Next Step Fund, will be a direct payment of $1,000 CAD awarded by the Sponsoring Association in the winner’s province.

  • Prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable, and must be accepted as awarded. No substitutions are permitted, except at the discretion of the Sponsoring Association.

6. Winner Selection and Notification

  • One winner per province will be selected by random draw from all eligible entries received during the event.

  • The prize draws will take place live during the “Business Not As Usual: Own Your Future” event on October 16, 2025.

  • Winners must be present online at the time of the draw to be declared. “Present” means logged into the event platform and responding through the method directed by the event host (e.g., confirming via chat or interactive tool).

  • Winners may be required to provide proof of age and residency in their province (e.g., driver’s license, student ID, utility bill, or rental agreement) in order to claim the prize.

  • Winners will also be contacted by email after the event to confirm prize delivery details.

7. Odds of Winning

  • The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible participants registered and present during the event in each province.

8. Conditions

By entering, participants agree to:

  • Be bound by these official rules and the decisions of the Sponsoring Associations, which are final and binding.

  • Allow the Sponsoring Association to use their name, city, and province for promotional purposes without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law.

  • Accept that entries not complying with these rules, or that attempt to tamper with the entry process, will be disqualified.

9. Limitation of Liability

  • The Sponsoring Associations and their affiliates are not responsible for technical issues that may disrupt participation, late or incomplete entries, or any failure of internet service during the event.

  • By participating, entrants release the Sponsoring Associations and their affiliates from any liability arising out of participation in the contest or acceptance/use of the prize.

10. Privacy

  • Personal information collected will be used only for the administration of this contest and in accordance with the privacy policies of the Sponsoring Associations.

11. Governing Law

This contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws and regulations.
